Who's on first?!
SPEAKER_00Hello, everybody. It's me, it's your podcaster against Geigas. This is just a little something I put together to tide you over. I'm trying to get into voice acting, and this is just a little thing I prepared as part of a portfolio. I hope you like it very much. Here goes. Say, Jeff, thanks again for showing me around your school. Oh, no trouble at all, no trouble at all. Yeah, there's so many interesting things about Winters I didn't know before. I didn't even know they played baseball here. Oh, indeed we do. I thought people from Winters played, you know, winter's games like cricket or football, I mean winter's football, or ninepins, or pitch and putt, or or haggis. Well, you'd be surprised what we're up to in this neck of the woods. In fact, I just so happen to be the volunteer manager of the Snowwood Boarding School baseball team. Really? Wow, that's neat. Say, I'd like to play a game or two with the Snowwood boarding school team sometime. Well, I'm sure that could be arranged. And I'd like to know the names of some of the kids on the team, so if I play a game with them or I see them on the street, I can say hello to them. Yes, yes, well that's easy enough, but uh I have to warn you, the players these days, they give them very peculiar names. Oh, I know, like they do in Eagle Land too. Like Beefy Cupcakes, Captain Sponge, Goofy Dean, yeah, goofy Dean, or his cousin from Summers. His cousin, Goofy Dean. Goofy Dean, quite right, quite right. Well, let's see. Uh we have who's on first, what's on second, I don't know's on third, and that's what I want to find out, the kids' names. What? That's what I want to find out, the kids' names. Uh-oh, well, I'm telling you, who's on first? What's on second? I don't know's on third. Jeff. You're the manager of the Snow Wood baseball team? Yes. And you don't know the names of the kids on the team? Well, I should think I do. Well then go ahead and tell me. Well, that's it, Ness. Who's on first? What's on second? I don't know's on third. You haven't told me anything yet. Go ahead and tell me. I'm trying to tell you who's on first, what's on second? I don't know who's on third You really don't know the names of the kids on the team? Well, of course I do. Then go ahead and tell me. Who's on first? Yes. I mean the kid's name. Who? The kid on first base? Who? The kid on first base? Who? The kid playing first base? Who is on first? What are you asking me for? Now wait just a moment. I'm asking you who's on first. That's his name. So go ahead and tell me. Who? The kid on first? Who?
unknownHmm.
SPEAKER_00That's his name, Ness. You haven't told me anyone's names yet. Do you know the name of the kid who plays first base or not? Well, of course I do. So go ahead and tell me. Who? The kid playing first base. Who is on first? What are you asking me for? No, no, no, no. Don't get excited. I'm trying to tell you. I'm just asking a simple question. Who's on first? Yes. So go ahead and tell me. Well, that's it. Who? Yes. I'm asking you what's the kid's name on first no no no, what's on second? I'm not asking you who's on second. No, who's on first. One base at a time! Well, why are you swapping my players around on different bases? I'm not swapping anyone. I want to know what's the kid's name on first base. No, what's on second? I'm not asking you who's on second. No, who's on first? I don't know. No, no, he's on third. We're not talking about him right now. What now, how did I get to third base? Well, you mentioned his name. No, I didn't. You did. I don't know anyone's names on the team yet. Nonetheless, you mentioned his name just now. Alright then. What's the kid's name on third? No, what's on second? I'm not asking you who's on second. No, who's on first? I don't know. He's on third. How did I get to third base again? You mentioned his name just now. I did not. You did. Then what's the kid's name on third? No, no, what is on second? I'm not asking you who's on second! No, who is on first? I don't know. No, third base. I don't know anybody on the team yet. But you mentioned their names, old boy. Uh fine. You got an outfield on the team? Certainly. Okay, tell me the left fielder's name. Why? Because I wanna know. I just thought I'd ask you. Well, I just thought I'd tell you. Then go ahead and tell me. Tell you what. The left fielder's name. Why? Because I wanna know! Because Oh no, no, no. He's in center field. Who's in center field? No, who's on first? What's on first? No, what's on second? I don't know! No third base! Third base. Look, Ness, you don't seem to understand. You see, I have a first baseman. And I know you've got a first baseman. Look, I'm asking a simple c What's the first baseman's name? No, what's the second baseman's name? I don't even get past the fr Alright, who's the second baseman? No, who's on first? Who what base do you want to talk about? Any base you like, Nest old boy. Anyone you like. Ah, fine. So who's on first? Right, okay. Does the Snowwood Boarding School have a program like my school does, where if they win enough games and their grades are good, they get a little bit of extra spending money? Well, sure, we do that here. Good. When that happens and you pay off the first baseman, who gets it? Every dollar of it. Who does? Yes, he does. Well, sometimes his mom collects it. Who's mom? Yes. Well, and why not? He's earned it, hasn't he? Who earned it? Yes. Okay. When you give him the money, he has to sign off on a receipt, right? Well, of course. So how does he sign his name? Who? The kid you give the money to? Who? The first baseman? Who? The kid playing first base. Well, that's how he signs it, you see. Who does? Yes. When he comes over and you give him the money and he signs his name, how does he sign his name? Who? The kid you give the money to? That's how he signs it. Who? Yes. Sure. Jeff, when you give the kid his money, what's the name of the kid who signs the receipt? Oh no now, wait a minute. What signs for his own? Who does? No, who signs his own? What's the kid's name on first base? No. What is on second? I'm not asking you who's on second. No. Who is on first? I don't know. Third base. Do you have a pitcher on the team? Well, it would be a fine team without a pitcher. Then go ahead and tell me the pitcher's name. Tomorrow. I can't change their names. You really don't want to tell me his name, but I'm telling you his name. So go ahead and tell me. Tomorrow. Why not just tell me today? I'm telling you his name, man. So tell me tomorrow. Alright, what time tomorrow are you gonna tell me the pitcher's name? What what in the blazes do you mean? What time tomorrow will you tell me who's pitching? Who is not pitching? Who is I'll break your arm, you tell me who's on first. I want to know what's the pitcher's name. No, what's on second? I don't know. Third base, third base. Do you have a catcher on the team? Come now. Certainly you have a catcher on a baseball team. Catcher's name. Today. Today. Today's catching and tomorrow's pitching. Now you've got it. Now I've got all I've got is a couple days on the team. Well, I can't do anything about that. I can't change the name. You know, Jeff, I'm a pretty good catcher myself. So they tell me at some point. Why thank you. Now, I'm on the Snowwood boarding school team, okay? And I'm about to do some fancy catching. And we got tomorrow pitching, and a heavy hitter steps up to the plate. Yes. And the hitter punts the ball. And when the hitter punts the ball, me being a good catcher, I want to pick up the ball and throw it to first to get the kid out. So I pick up the ball, throw it to first base, and who gets it? Now that's the first thing you've said right. I don't even know what I'm talking about! But Ness, that's all you have to do. That's all I have to do is throw the ball to first base, and then who gets it? Naturally. Sure. Jeff, the kid is heading to first base, so I want to throw him out. So so I throw the ball to who? Naturally. I throw it to who? Naturally. And who's got it? Naturally. Who does? Naturally. Okay. Now we're getting somewhere. Now you've got it, old boy. Good, good. So I throw the ball to naturally. No, you don't. You throw the ball to first base, then who gets it? Naturally, naturally. That's what I said. I throw the ball to naturally. No, no, no, you don't. You throw it to who? Naturally, naturally. That's what I'm saying! No, no, listen, Ness. What why don't you try asking me? Okay. I throw the ball to who? Naturally. Naturally. Alright, now you ask me. You throw the ball to who? Naturally. That's it. Same as you! But but same as you! I throw it to naturally! No, Ness, you don't. You throw it to who? And who's got it? Natur Naturally! That's what I said! Ugh. Whoever it is, they better get it. Oh, he'll get it, alright. Don't you worry. Who will get it? Yes. Well, he better get it. Now. I throw the ball to who? Whoever it is drops the ball, so the kid runs at second base. Who picks up the ball, throws to what? What throws to I don't know. I don't know, throws it back to tomorrow. Triple play. Could be. Another kid gets up, and it's a long fly ball because. Why? I don't know. He's on third, and I don't give a dang! What was that? I said I don't give a dang! Oh, you've met all short stuff.
